Demimon are a hybrid species of both Wukai and Human. Currently, there is a lack of substantive information about how this species came to be, but it is believed they came after Wukai and humans. Demimon typically comprise of elements found in both species, with some demimon manifesting those features purely in their humanoid form, or in both an animal and humanoid form. Each demimon group type is fairly distinct, and features can vary even amongst individuals within a demimon group type.
Biologically, while in humanoid form, they can mate with humans, while not illegal, this is considered taboo amongst many demimons and humans. If a demimon has an alternate animal form, they cannot procreate with any living thing while in that form, as it’s the physical manifestation of their natural Wukai spirit form. Much like humans, demimon can take on a wide variety of shapes, colors, and sizes.
New types of demimon, much like their wukai counterparts, are being discovered as time goes on.
Culturally, the demimon occupy a difficult space between the three species. They are often looked upon by some with a great deal of fear, derision, suspicion, or even bigotry by both human and Wukai alike. They are seen by some as an aberration, a mixing that should never be. That being said, as time has advanced, demimon have slowly been more accepted and incorporated into the broader human society, as have humans amongst demimon society. However, factions and individuals amongst both sides still harbor their fears and prejudices, as do many wukai.
Some demimon prefer to embrace their wukai side and lead a more preindustrial and traditional lifestyle that some, especially the elders in these communities, feel is more in harmony with nature, while others, often seen with the younger generation, having grown up with or around humans and their technology, are more embracing of the future they see with humans, both in terms of technology and culture, and are eager to chart a new path forward for their kind.
