Part of me would have loved to have seen Mimi’s reaction had Rao responded with something along the lines of “That’s a good question Mimi! I guess we better send YOU up separately!” =P
I’m guessing there’s a 50/50 chance of the elevator working properly though.
Mimi might take that as a crack about her weight and not be too pleased, haha!
Well if it was able to carry one big drabbunny and a Tanuki girl up without any problems, than there’s a chance one full metal rider won’t cause it to break down…I hope!

Rao is teasing Mimi (a worthy occupation, to be sure). The robot probably doesn’t weigh more than Matt, since she helped carry the little guy from Jigin’s house to the truck and then from the truck to Rao’s worktable without complaining about his weight, and she never passes up an opportunity to complain about something.
Remember also that Matt will be using the elevator by himself later (see HERE), so it’s no big deal.
Mimi still getting PTD from her last elevator ride with Rao no doubt.
Matt will probably avoid the elevator of terror again since he just has to drive the truck out of the garage.
Rao seems to like testing limits; that’s usually not a good idea when it comes to an already installed service elevator, which I’m assuming is the type of Elevator Rao has.
Rao’s thinking that maybe he should had laid off all those carrot cake donuts earlier.

What, Mimi? And risk getting those slippers dirty outside? You need to go back upstairs and change back to your shoes first.
The robot doesn’t seem phased about being carried by Rao; not sure how long that’ll last though.
Those drabbunny slippers are so comfy that she may have forgotten about her shoes.
Our metal friend seems very nonplussed about much of its current situation in general.

In the event that it doesn’t, I hope the car has emergency brakes.

I accuse Rao of being self-centered

It’s hard not to be when you’re as big as Rao is.
Notice Rao’s eyes in the fourth panel. Mimi is criticizing his weight and his mechanical expertise (assuming he built the elevator).
It certainly wouldn’t be the first time she did.

Rao never can turn down a good opportunity to test his inventions!

If they survive or not is another matter.
Hoo boy in situations like these I think Mimi would’ve preferred stairs
At least if took the stairs she wouldn’t be carrying a big heavy picnic basket now.
Mimi spitting facts while drabunn sweats donut icing…

I hope it has airbags installed too!
