I can’t blame them for being a bit cautious of this rare mechanical artifact. Hopefully Rao can show them he knows his stuff!

I know that Rao is really the only proper mechanic in Wukrii, but I can`t help but think that something is gonna go wrong, since things have been going so well thus far.
Seems Mimi knows how these sorts of things usually go. Roa’s best option is to probably see what he can pop off at the joints, but that doesn’t sound all that easy either.
Mimi’s probably had her share of experiences dealing with mechanics that needed to fix her scooter.

And in all likelihood, those same mechanics were halfway competent at their job and barely knew what they were doing when it came to her ride. I get the feeling Mimi likes to refer to her scooter as her “baby” and probably even gave it a name, she strikes me as the type to name her vehicles, which just made the experience worse for her. Once you have a name for something, or someone, that increases the likelihood of emotional attachment to the object or individual with a name.

Yeah you can only learn so much by looking, they need to do some practical tests sooner or later to uncover this mystery.
I think you’ll need to be more specific Mimi. Rao is a strong guy, I think he has a different idea what constitutes a “big” hammer.
Wait a minute. Back near the end of Chapter 1 Nini whacked the metal box with her club and a while later the robot started walking. Could further whacking with hammers produce the same result?
Rao didn’t get where he was just by reading on fixing things. He’s got to get his paws on to things if you expect him to help!
Those hammers are definitely not drabbunny sized.

Maybe it’s one of those scratch testers to test the hardness of materials?
Rao would soon find out the disappointing truth that lost ancient relic-esq technology often lacks modern conventional design, components adherent to current standards and easily utilized future proofing.
Ancient Mechanical technology isn’t nearly as mod friendly as a donut making machine.

Matt is getting ahead of himself calling it a friend. His pals could have easily woken up to his head in that robot’s hands for all they know about how it works. Well at least he didnt get too attached and named it yet.
Theyre there to figure out what theyre dealing with before its too late.
I’m sure Mathew’s getting a little cheeky with his wording there. Though he is fortunate that it didn’t immediately go into “destroy all mankind” mode the moment it woke up.

Wait big hammer, what would he need a big hammer for on such a small machine for? sounds a bit over kill, i would use maybe an x-ray or something, if he’s got one
Mimi I feel your concern but please just trust the mechanic
Rao wouldn’t be getting much business if his customers didn’t trust his expertise!
Rao has a point. They brought him this contraption because he’s the best machinery fixer-upper around, and now they want him to blindly GUESS? O.O

Nothing has exploded yet, so far so good!

Rao’s definitely got something in mind to to test this mysterious tech.
If he does pick it up, I bet you it will be the knee he test first!
Got to check this robot’s reflexes!
naa… just a rubber mallet!
The most comically big rubber mallet!

If you can’t screw it open, bust it open!
I have a strange feeling : what ever the chosen tool , it will be a “disaster”
Rao’s used to dealing with disasters such as Jigin’s truck.
Anyone else having trouble loading this one?
Don’t worry Mimi, I’m sure Rao knows what he’s doing… Right?
I’m sure it’s just a small reflex hammer anyway.
