At least Rao won’t have to sacrifice too much of his day off I guess!

The only time we’ve seen it move was in the moonlight just before dawn. Ol’ Rao may be giving up more than just “a few hours” of his day off, before it moves again.
Someone’s going to have to do some major mechanical repairs to poor Rao’s back!

Nah, Matthew and Mimi moved it by themselves: (click on THIS LINK)

But Matthew and Mimi are two people, you would be surprised by the number of mechanical advantages lifting with two people has over one, namely in safety.

My point was that THEY could do it gain.

He hides his excitement to take a look under the hood pretty well, for now. I have a feeling that one of the next pages is going to be basically Rao fangirling over the inside of this thing.
Wouldn’t it be funny if the robot had a system where it imprinted on someone that met certain criteria, then imprinted on Mimi because it assessed her as being the best match for those criteria?
Rao’s got a professional image to maintain after all! He can’t be seen acting like a big kid being offered candy!

Mathew: I’ll even put your name in the acknowledgements section in my book about it!
Nice to see Rao is on board and raring to go. Whether he finds out anything or not remains to be seen however.
In all seriousness it does sound very interesting and some new lore to ponder over would be great.
Rao would jump at the chance of being remembered in a book as long as he gets top billing.
We’ll see if Rao’s resourcefulness will help uncover this mechanic artifact’s mysteries.

yes attempt to move a small human child sized robot that weighs as much as it took 2 people to lift it, darn thing probably weighs a few hundred pounds at least with all the metal and gears, hope Rao don’t hurt himself moving it in my experience, may look light but is quite heavy, i wonder just how much that guy weighs as a machine that probably has a synthetic soul inside it
Next strip : the “thing” stands up and walks itself to the worktable

Surprise, it’s solar powered, now it’s getting sunlight through the window, now it be chargin.
No need for them to try and find the ancient AC adaptor now!

I hope it doesn’t only activate when everyone’s asleep!
At this point, Rao`s ego is almost as big as he is.
The best way to Rao’s heart is to feed his ego and feed him carrot cake donuts!

“I’ll just heft this thing up…”
Rao’s last words before getting his back folded by the sheer weight of trying to lift the thing.

Shades of Johnny Sokko’s Flying Robot.
Just have to find it’s wrist-watch controller!

I’m sure Rao has dealt with heavy machinery of all kinds before. He is wise in the ways of lifting with his legs.
If the robot or artifact is sentient I can just imagine how Rao would be trying to pry its head open
Rao better have some sunglasses on the ready just incase it starts glowing bright blue beams of light from it’s head!
Motivational speeches complete, Rao’s look in the last panel is a look of determination. I like the pose in panel 5.
