At least we now know what that string around Matthew’s neck was attached to all this time!

I think that hit Mimi really hard, it’s clear family is important to her, even if she doesn’t always get along with some of them.
I get the feeling Mimi has a bit of a big family, and loves and respects them all in her own way but decided to expand her horizons when the rest of her family didn’t quite approve. We’ll probably get to see some of her family history later on down the line, that could be interesting.
Mimi’s mostly likely surprised to hear Matthew tell a side of himself that I’m sure he doesn’t share with too many people.

I think that his amulet is what activated the strange golem that he found. Maybe he didn’t find it by chance, but more of the artifacts somehow being attracted to other artifacts.
It could also be that I’m thinking too much into this.
It’s an interesting theory! Talismans are inherently mysterious and complex in their purpose, if they have any at all beyond ornamentation or visual symbolism.

Chekhov’s amulet? (like Chekhov’s gun, but it hangs around the neck instead of on the wall.) ^^
Only time will tell! Can confirm it is not an ancient watch though, so no puns here.

Mathew: Oh, this old thing? It must be a plot device- I mean! It must have slipped out of my shirt just now.
Jokes aside it’s nice to learn a bit more about Mathew’s backstory beyond his occupation. A bit of personal story to go with the plot and lore.
Also, I know pastries are pretty light but that hamper must still weight a bit and Mimi is carrying it no trouble, strong girl.
We wanted to show that there’s more to Matthew then just being an explorer and book author. He’s a man of many mysteries.
A picnic basket full of snacks and stuff is no problem at all for our tough Tanuki gal!
Convenient backstory placement is convenient Lol
