I have a theory, that fruit drugged her in such a way that now she can hear the narrator and see imperceptible things with the naked eye, this could also be somewhat poisonous, after all the page is revealing.
Someone else might be hungry for the strange forest fruit!

Yeah, spooky blue eyes in trees and the forrest would give me the feeling of being watched too. Sorry Kiki, as much as you’d prefer them to reveal themselves you’re not the one in control here.
Theory time: She entered this “realm” when she ate some of the fruit, it’s some kind of ritual like with the bell chimes at the Masubizu shrine, this is only the first part. She can’t get out unless she completes the ritual which involves eating the rest of the fruit as the next part.
Lagoloid and Gatsumann, I hope you’re doing ok with all the stuff that’s been happening in the world.
Kiki might have found something worse than just random gawkers staring at her on the road.

It’s probably the fruit that’s throwing off her usual sense of direction.

: The fruit isn’t poisonous, it just has hallucinogenic properties, like LSD.

The fruit isn’t quite giving her the ability to break the 4th wall like that.
Seems that fruit is disorientating her, or the forest is. Either way, something is probably out to get her!
