At least it will be a lot easier going down the stairs than going up if Mimi’s legs aren’t feeling like wet noodles yet!

So my salmon spawning idea wasn’t entirely off, neat.
That is a lovely scene Lagoloid made, all the different leaf shapes and textures and smoothness of the stones from the river. While I like hearing lore it’s a bit of a shame the speech boxes obscure so much background, not much can be done about that though.
A reasonable climb up to be greeted with a nice tree covered clearing and a lookout onto a river, who wouldn’t want to build a shrine here?
So Matthew decided to go out of his way to a certain spot, does everything he knows to get the big fish and isn’t too disappointed when it doesn’t work out. Maybe he should take up fishing, he has the right mindset for it.

Thanks for the kind comments on the first panel Evil Tree! Even though it’s another environment type I’m not used to painting, I took a lot of what I learned from doing many of the background scenes in the past and applied it to this river scene. Yeah, it’s hard to judge how much text bubbles will be needed on a particular panel and sometimes art elements get sacrificed in the process. Yep, the ancient Wukriians knew it was a perfect spot when they built the shrine. If they had smartphones, I’m sure many selfies would be shot up there!
If you’re Matthew and you’ve been doing as much exploring as he has, you’ll run into the duds more so than big discovers, so I’m sure he’s built up a tolerance for disappointments. For him it’s the journey that’s more important than the destination! With that said, hopefully their trip to Rao’s doesn’t end up a disappointment!
